February (Subat) is the last winter month in Turkey, with weather averaging minus degrees in inland cities and single-digit degrees in coastal cities. February is forbiddingly cold, snowy, and icy in Eastern Turkey. Still, it's not a bad month to visit Southeastern Turkey, which is chilly now but blazing hot in summer.

In Istanbul and the other big cities, museums may be redoing some of their exhibits, and some small hotels may be closed for renovations. Still, plenty will be open and good to see and do.
