If you're covered
by medical insurance at home, you
may also be covered while you're
traveling abroad.
It's the same body. It's just in a
different place!
But check to be sure that you're covered
in Turkey.
Other sorts of insurance also cover
medical expenses:
— Personal
Accident/Injury (PAI) protection
may be included in your car
rental insurance--or not.
— If you've purchased
a Trip
Cancellation policy, you've probably
got some medical protection. Read your
policy carefully and know what's covered.
— If you use a premium
credit card ("gold," "platinum," etc)
and paid for transportation services
with it, you may have some flight
protection, and also medical
coverage as part of the
card's auto
collision coverage. Get an up-to-date
version of your credit
card Agreement (probably
available online), read the terms,
and know what coverage you have.
Self-insuring for
medical coverage is probably foolish,
so you may want to contact
my friends at InsureMyTrip.com for
no-obligation price quotes on all sorts
of policies, or check out Travel
Guard International, with
travel insurance starting at
$30.
Travel
Guard is the leading
travel insurance company, covering
more than 6 million travelers worldwide
each year, with plans for vacation and trip
cancellation, travel interruptions
and delays, emergency medical and
health expenses, lost baggage and
more.
