Olimpos Lodge Beach, Turkish Mediterranean

Getaway Beach

The beach between the pretty Olympos Lodge resort villa complex and the Mediterranean is of fine-to-coarse limestone and marble pebbles, so the hotel built a boardwalk to reach it.

Maybe fine sand is what some visitors prefer, but I like the pebbles: they’re pleasantly smooth, pretty and tactile, and they don’t stick to your skin the way sand does!

The sea water is fine, clean and warm, with no big towns nearby.

Olimpos, 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Antalya, is a truly pretty spot, and a favorite of backpackers, who stay not at the fine Olympos Lodge but at the renowned Kadir’s Top Tree Houses or any of the two dozen other inexpensive lodgings near the beach. More…

(Here’s another Olimpos photo.)
