Dramatic Struggle, Dramatic Statue

Antalya's monmument to the Turkish War of Independence is certainly dramatic, but so was the war that gave birth to the Turkish Republic.

The highest figure in the group is Kemal Atatürk, victor in the war and founding father of the Republic.

Just to the right of it in my photo is the Grooved Minaret (Yivli Minare), the city's traditional symbol left from the time of the Seljuk Turks.
