Blue Voyage: Mountains and Sea, Turkish Mediterranean

Mavi Magic

Mavi in Turkish means "blue," so a Mavi Yolculuk is a "Blue Journey" or, on the Turkish Mediterranean, a Blue Voyage by yacht, usually a spacious wooden gulet out of Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Göcek or Antalya.

This photo is from my first Blue Voyage, many years ago. I was asked by the director of the Turkish Tourism Office in New York to accompany a group of journalists on a cruise to act as translator and "cultural interpreter." I contacted a magazine and they asked me to write an article about the cruise, as well.

What can I say? You see it. It was simply magical.

Many more people depart on Blue Voyages these days. Good! The beauty is here. Everyone should see it.
