Selçuk, the farming town 3 km (2 miles) from the Ephesus archeological site, has a number of good small hotels and lots of comfortable, congenial little pensions to serve travelers coming to visit the ruins.

If you favor large, modern four- and five-star resort hotels, there are plenty of them in Kusadasi, the cruise-ship port and seaside resort town 18 km (11 miles) southwest of Ephesus, readily accessible by frequent, inexpensive minibus.

Kalehan Hotel
A charming family-run inn with lots of atmosphere, a variety of air-conditioned rooms, swimming pool, exceedingly helpful staff, and a good dining room serving organic produce from the hotel's own garden. More...

Villa Konak
This Ottoman-style inn with swimming pool is a calm oasis in the center of bustling Kusadasi, near beaches, shopping, restaurants and lots of nightlife, but a welcome refuge at the end of the day. More...

Nisanyan Evleri
A rustic inn and cottages in a wine-making hill village just 7 km (4.3 miles) east of Selçuk? With all mod-cons, including a fine dining room, and a swimming pool (not to mention spectacular views)? That's the Nisanyan Evleri. More...

Akay Hotel
Perhaps the quietest location in Selçuk, yet only a few minutes' walk from the center. Two hotels in one: a brand-new moderately-priced wing, and the renovated older rooms.

Nazar Hotel
Inexpensive and convenient, with a pleasant roof terrace restaurant: hotel features at near-pension prices.

Selçuk Pensions
From simple rooms in private homes to feature-laden budget hotels for backpackers, these run the gamut.

Hitit Hotel
Selçuk's only 4-star, a modern place with swimming pool, was built with bus tour groups in mind. It's a few km north of the city on the west side of the highway to Izmir, convenient only if you have a car.
