Göreme House Hotel, Cappadocia

Göreme House Hotel was one of the first upscale boutique hotels in the Cappadocian town of Göreme when it opened years ago.

Until recently it was operated by my friends Mr Murat and Ms Pinar Soyata Özgüç, but Murat and Pinar have moved on to other ventures. They will be helping out at the hotel during a transition period, which will be followed by new management.

But about the hotel itself: it will be open and welcoming. The comfortable rooms are decorated with carved wood furniture, local handicrafts and Turkish carpets. The private bathrooms are modern and tiled, with all the comforts. Most rooms have wireless Internet service.

The top-floor dining room and open-air terrace have fine views of Göreme town and the Cappadocian countryside: the perfect place to hang out, have a drink, chat with other travelers, write postcards, or read up for the next day's adventures.
