As a popular tourist town, Göreme has
lots of cafes and restaurants where
you can dine well, whether you just
want a simple traditional Turkish lunch
of beans and rice or lamb stew, or
an elaborate dinner inspired by Ottoman cuisine, smoothly served in posh surroundings.
Here are my favorites (with more to

Local Restaurant
That's the name of this local restaurant
right at the junction of the main road
through Göreme and
the road to the Göreme
Valley,
Ortahisar and Ürgüp. The
menu is excellent, service friendly
and personal, prices moderate, the
wine list a good selection of local
and national vintages. Recommended!
Alaturca
Restaurant
The self-appointed "home
of Anatolian fine cuisine" brought
a breath of fresh air to the Cappadocian
restaurant scene when it opened several
years ago. It's ambitious, for sure:
a large, quite impressive complex boldly
decorated, with an enterprising menu
worthy of Istanbul. More...
