Konya's
Arkeoloji Müzesi (Archeological
Museum) is just west of the Sahip-i
Ata Mosque Complex, south of the
Alaettin Tepesi hill.
Besides the expected Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk artifacts, the museum holds
an assortment of finds from the Neolithic
tumulus at Çatal Höyük,
which in itself is a reason to visit.
The museum is of the old Turkish style,
rather bare and spartan, but this doesn't
matter as the exhibits speak for themselves.
The collection is particularly rich
in sarcophagi and
other burial treasures.
The museum is open daily except Monday
from 09:00 am to 12:00 noon and from
13:00 to 17:00 (1 to 5 pm) for
YTL2.
