Southeast of Nigde in
the Aladag mountains (a continuation
of Turkey's Bolkar range)
is Aladaglar National
Park (Aladaglar
Milli Parki), which contains the
impressive Kapuzbasi
Waterfalls and
possibilities for hiking and river
rafting on the lively Zamanti
Nehri.
The Kapuzbasi
Selalesi (waterfalls) is
the main attraction, but the mountain
scenery—especially in spring, with all
the wildflowers, and in autumn, with
the foliage colors—is beautiful all along
the way.
Overnight
accommodations in the park are limited and very
basic (spartan village guesthouses), so many
people go to Aladaglar (AH-lah-dah-lahr)
on a day-trip from Cappadocia.
Aladaglar National Park is about 144
km (90 miles) south of Cappadocia,
a 2-1/4-hour drive.
Rock
Valley Tourism & Travel of
Ürgüp operates day trips to the
park and the waterfalls.
