Istanbul's
good three-star hotels are
the thrifty
traveler's choice.
For YTL80 to YTL120 you get a comfortable
two-person guest room with private
bathroom, nice decor, and
sometimes even such 4-star services
as minibars or refrigerators, satellite
TVs, wireless (Wifi) Internet connections,
and air conditioning.
You can't depend on there being many
other services (elevator/lift,
restaurant)—but there
may be.
Look for 3-star hotels in Sultanahmet,
although there are some in other parts
of the city as well. My favorites:
Sebnem
Hotel
Just
around the corner from popular Akbiyik
Caddesi, but on the quiet traffic-less
end of Adliye
Sokak, this tidy small hotel offers value
for money in a great location. More...
Hotel
Yunus Emre
Family-run, quiet, convenient to restaurants and close
to the Hippodrome and
all its sights, the newly-renovated Yunus Emre gives
you quite a lot for your money. More...
Apricot
Hotel
Among my favorites in this
price range, with good location,
good services and comforts, and great
value for money. More...
Erboy Hotel
Modern, quiet, well-run, and convenient
to Sirkeci
Station, Eminönü
ferry docks and the Egyptian
(Spice) Bazaar as
well as to Sultanahmet, it's a bargain
for the price. More...
Ararat
Hotel
You can't get any closer to the Blue
Mosque—a nice little artsy boutique hotel
right across the street, moderately priced. More...
Hotel
Niles
On a relatively quiet back street in Beyazit just two
short blocks from the tram stop,
this small, modern family-run hotel has all the conveniences
at value-for-money rates. More...
Orient Express Hotel
True to its name, it's near
Sirkeci
Station, where the Orient
Express arrived from Paris,
but also not far from all Istanbul's
other important landmarks. More...
There are also several good three-stars
in Hocapasa and Sirkeci. Many can be
reserved through Venere.
