Eren Kitabevi is
an attractive, serious English-language
bookshop on Sofyali Sokak near Tünel
Square at the southeastern
end of Istiklal
Caddesi in Beyoglu.
My humorous travel memoir, Turkey:
Bright Sun, Strong Tea,
is in the front window—or
at least it was last time I looked.
Sofyali Sokak is
the interesting little side street
(just northwest of Istiklal
Caddesi) that's filled with antiques
shops, art galleries, restaurants and
artsy cafes.
To find it, go to Tünel
Square (at the upper terminus
of the Tünel underground
train). Stand in front of the
Tünel station, walk straight
ahead into the Tünel Pasaji, past
the KV Restaurant-Café and,
out the far side of the passage,
the street ahead of you is Sofyali
Sokak. Eren Kitabevi is
a few steps along the street on the
left-hand side.
You can also get to Sofyali Sokak
by turning off Istiklal
Caddesi onto Asmali Mescit
Caddesi, then left onto Sofyali
Sokak.
