How can you not stay on Istanbul's Kutlugün Sokak, the "Street of the Happy Day"?

This is Sultanahmet's happy "guesthouse street," with a half-dozen guesthouses, pensions and little hotels, as well as the hulking deluxe Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul.

If you're looking for really good, inexpensive lodgings right in the midst of everything, have a look at the Terrace Guest House, the Antique Hostel, and the Cosmopolitan Park Hotel.

Grocery shops, travel agencies, and the inevitable carpet shops round out the street's offerings.

There's a bit of traffic on the northeastern half of the street because of the Four Seasons, but it's slow and usually quiet (see map below).
