Utangaç (oo-tahn-GAHTCH) means "shy" or "bashful," but there's no reason this little Sultanahmet street need be.
At the NE end is the posh Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul. The other end of the short street is within a stone's throw of the Blue Mosque.
It's been nicely fixed up with granite paving stones and potted trees because it leads to the Four Seasons' front door, but in fact most of the traffic uses Tevkifhane Sokak instead, so Utangaç is quiet (see map below).
