Istanbul's Yenikapı
Fast Ferry Terminal is
an important transport hub. If
you're coming from the
Sea
of Marmara Asian shore suburbs
of Kadıköy or Bostancı,
the Princes'
Islands (via
ferry from Bostancı), or
the southern
Sea
of Marmara shore cities of Yalova,
Bursa or Bandırma (for
the train
to Izmir), your fast car
ferry or SeaBus
fast catamaran passenger ferry will
arrive at Yenikapı.
By Havataş Airport Bus
Havataş
airport buses await
the arrival of every ferry coming to
Yenikapı, then whiz you out to Atatürk
Airport for TL5.
Check with Havataş about trips in
the opposite direction, from Atatürk
Airport to Yenikapı.
(Be sure to look
for Havataş and
not Havaş.
Havaş airport
buses stop at the Bakırköy
ferry docks, but not the Yenikapı
ferry terminal.)
By City Bus
IETT express city bus 96T,
departs Atatürk
Airport and travels along the shore
of the Sea
of Marmara stopping at the Yenikapı
Ferry Terminal, Aksaray Square and Taksim Square.
This is among the most inexpensive
ways to go, but also the slowest.
A private
transfer service can
easily move you and your luggage between
Atatürk Airport and Yenikapı, and if
you have three or more people, or more
than two or three suitcases, this is
a value-for-money service you'll
want to use. More...
A taxi can
whiz you from the airport to Yenikapı,
but if you're two travelers
with a goodly amount of luggage, or
three travelers with a normal amount
of luggage, you may need two taxis,
which means twice the price, and perhaps
twice the headaches, which
is when a private
transfer service begins to look great. More...
Suburban
trains (banliyö
treni) travel
from near Atatürk Airport to near Yenikapı. You can take a taxi from the airport
to the Yeşilyurt train station,
then a suburban train toward Sirkeci,
getting out at the Yenikapı
station,
but there are stairs and busy
road crossings to negotiate, so it probably
doesn't make sense. Other ways are
easier, quicker and cheaper.
