The Bucoleon Palace
Hotel in Istanbul is
a new hotel opened
by friends of mine in September 2009.
It's on a quiet street in the Küçük
Ayasofya neighborhood, very convenient
to Sultanahmet, the Hippodrome, Blue
Mosque, Ayasofya, Topkapi
Palace, and
all of Istanbul's other important historic
sights.
Make
your reservation directly with the
hotel, tell them you've
come from TurkeyTravelPlanner.com and
you'll receive a complimentary
fruit basket, bottle of wine,
and Turkish Delight.
What I like most about the Bucoleon
Palace Hotel is its understated
elegance in décor, and the
standard of personal service of the
experienced staff.
This is not a big or fancy hotel—certainly
not a palace—but a small (7
guest rooms and 4 junior suites) boutique
hotel with
personal service. (It's named for a
huge Byzantine palace that once stood
nearby.)
All four
junior
suites and the
rooftop terrace at this new, quietly
refined small hotel on a good untrafficked
street have views of
the Sea
of Marmara. One suite has a private
terrace, the others have balconies.
A few of the 7 guest
rooms have views of the Blue
Mosque.
Décor is
high-quality understated elegance,
and the standard of service by the
staff pleasingly high.
There is an elevator and all the expected
services: free Wifi Internet, satellite
TVs, private bathrooms, minibars, direct-dial
telephones, etc.
