Location, location, location: Istanbul's
Tan Hotel has one of the most convenient
locations in all of Sultanahmet. It
is literally 30 meters (33 yards) from
the Sultanahmet tram stop and the Hippodrome,
and only steps from many restaurants and shops, and yet it is quiet, set
apart.
This magic happens because it is at
the end of a short street, just around
the corner from the crowds, but not
in them (Google
map). It's great!

and modern, with big windows
providing plenty of light; chic design

oh, 100 rooms, right? No! The Tan
Hotel has only 16 rooms and four suites,
so it really is a boutique
hotel in the best
sense. You receive the personal,
small-hotel attention you deserve, and yet the
accommodations are those of a much
larger, much more deluxe hotel.
The roof terrace and bar have surprisingly
good views of the Blue
Mosque, Ayasofya,
Aya Irini, the Bosphorus and its graceful
bridge.... Who would have thought of
it from this location?
Feel free to
bring your own snacks to the roof terrace,
your camera for photos, and postcards— this
is the perfect place to write them.
