The Divan Oteli is a small European-style hotel with excellent cuisine and near-perfect personal service by well-trained multilingual staff.

Few of its 177 rooms have Bosphorus views, and the hotel has no grounds to speak of, but the location is good: right next to the Hyatt Regency, across the street from the Ceylan Inter-continental, and a five-minute walk from Taksim Square to the south and the Istanbul Hilton to the north.

I particularly like the Turkish cuisine in the Divan Lokantasi (formal restaurant) and Divan Pub (informal), and the appealing pastries in the Divan Pastanesi (pastry shop).

The hotel, flagship of a Turkish chain, is owned and run by the Koç Group, one of Turkey's most prominent international holding companies.
