No room has a bad view at the Ceylan InterContinental, Istanbul's 390-room asymmetrical skyscraper.

The Ceylan (That's JEY-lahn) InterContinental Hotel Istanbul towers above Taksim Park, with fine views, including of the Bosphorus, from its upper floors (map).

Built in the 1970s as a Sheraton, it has a good location: Taksim Square is only a few minutes' walk south across shady Taksim Park, and an entrance to the Taksim Square Metro station (for the line between Taksim Square and Levent) is only a half-block away, though the station itself is then about a quarter mile down a l-o-n-g subterranean corridor.

The Hyatt Regency is right across the street, the Divan Oteli almost across the street, and the Istanbul Hilton less than a 10-minute walk away. The Ritz Carlton is inconveniently down the hill toward the Bosphorus shore, about a five-minute walk.

It's easy to reserve a value-priced private airport transfer to the hotel in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle that costs only slightly more than a taxi, and significantly less than two taxis (which you'll need if you have 4+ people and/or lots of luggage), and far more pleasant, comfortable and trustworthy. Ceylan Intercontinental Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey

Most guests prefer the Bosphorus views from this asymmetrical skyscraper, but in fact all the views are pretty good.
