A view of the Bosphorus from
the hotel room is a dream many visitors
to Istanbul may have. It's a worthy
dream: watching the huge ships, the
yachts, the fishing boats pass.
But it comes at a price, and it's
not just five-star room rates. Istanbul's
morning and evening rush-hour
traffic is intense, and you may spend several
hours of your sightseeing time in taxis going
to and from your hotel.
If your chosen hotel is near a ferry
dock, that's much better, as the Bosphorus is wide enough to avoid boat jams.
Here are the best hotels on
the Bosphorus north
of Istanbul:,
starting with those nearest the city
center, then going north up the Bosphorus.
Swissôtel
The Bosphorus, fine Bosphorus views,
looking right down on Dolmabahçe
Palace, and Nişantaşı shopping
is even within walking distance. More...
Conrad
International Istanbul,
good Bosphorus views
from most rooms, but you must take
taxis everywhere. More...
Çirağan
Palace Kempinski Istanbul,
modern, next to a rebuilt Ottoman palace
right on the Bosphorus shore:
half the rooms have good views,
all are surprisingly expensive,
traffic can be a challenge.
Radisson
Blu Bosphorus Hotel,
in trendy Ortaköy,
within walking distance of the
famous
Ortaköy Mosque and
nearby tea houses, is out of
the center, but in a cool location
near a ferry dock nonetheless. More...
Four
Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the
Bosphorus,
the Bosphorus shore branch of the
international luxury chain that
also operates the Four
Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet. More...
