Yeşil Ev (Green House) was Istanbul's first restored Ottoman mansion inn, and is still among the best.

Pronounced YEH-sheel ehv ("Green House"), this formal but comfortable inn is just off the Hippodrome, around the corner from the deluxe Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul.

The inn's 22 rooms boast antiques and period pieces in fine Ottoman taste. The Pasha's Room suite has its own private Turkish bath.

The location is fairly quiet, and only steps from the Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, the Hippodrome and Topkapı Palace.

The Yesil Ev's garden restaurant at the back is particularly pleasant in good weather.

The Turkish Touring and Automobile Association, under the leadership of its longtime director, Mr Çelik Gülersoy, did the work superbly, and it is still the restoration by which all others are measured.

When you contact the hotel, please mention TurkeyTravelPlanner.com. Here's why.
