Here are the best Sultanahmet lodgings based on feedback from Turkey
Travel Planner users:
LUXURY: Four
Seasons Hotel Istanbul,
on Tevkifhane
Sokak, may be the best
deluxe hotel in Turkey. Bosphorus views
from the rooftop terrace, and
it's perfectly located within
a few minutes' walk of the
city's top
sights. It's often fully
booked, so reserve well
in advance!
UNBEATABLE
LOCATION: Mavi
Ev (Blue House) is just excellent,
with smooth, friendly
staff, modern comforts, and a location—right
across the street from the Blue
Mosque—that
is nothing short of spectacular.
FAMILY-RUN
BOUTIQUE INN: Sari Konak
Oteli is really
elegant for a small, family-run inn:
tastefully furnished, with all the
conveniences, and Byzantine ruins
in the tiny terrace garden.
OTTOMAN
INN: Dersaadet
Oteli is
on quiet Kapiagasi
Sokak just a few minutes'
walk from the Blue
Mosque,
with a refined Ottoman boutique-hotel
ambience and friendly staff.
VALUE-FOR-MONEY: More
than you bargained for: the
Apricot
Hotel is convenient,
comfortable and friendly, and
the
owner is out
to make guests feel they've received
more than they've paid for.
INEXPENSIVE: Terrace
Guesthouse is tiny,
but surprisingly inexpensive, given
its perfect location just around
the
corner
from the
posh
Four
Seasons Hotel. It has
what the Four Seasons conspicuously
lacks: a grand view of
the Bosphorus from its breakfast terrace.
MODERN
STYLE: The Tan
Hotel defies the trend toward
Ottoman decoration, going instead
for a modern upscale design in
a supremely convenient location.
BACKPACKER
HOSTEL: Antique
Hostel & Guesthouse,
on Kutlugün
Sokak,
is friendly, clean, quiet and convenient,
with a view from the rooftop terrace
that can't be equalled by the posh
Four Seasons Hotel nearby.

Too bad you
can't stay here: the Baghdad
Kiosk in Topkapi
Palace, where the sultan
once listened to music and
watched dances performed by
the ladies of his harem.
Topkapi is
less than a 10-minute walk from
any of Sultanahmet's Best
Hotels.
