Several companies in Çanakkale and
Eceabat run guided tours
by car or minibus of the Gallipoli
battlefields. A seat in the minibus
costs about TL45;
a private tour for one to three people
costs about
TL220.
Coming from Istanbul, Backpackers
Travel
operates a variety of tours from
Istanbul to Gallipoli and Troy,
from budget to top-class, same-day
to overnight:
—Day
excursion to Gallipoli by public
bus: this is the way
to tour Gallipoli in the shortest
time for the least money. You're
taken early by shuttle van to Istanbul's
Main
Bus Terminal where you board
a comfortable intercity coach for
the ride to Eceabat on
the Gallipoli peninsula. You're met
in Eceabat at mid-day by your tour
guide, who takes you on an afternoon
tour of the battlefields. After your
tour, you return to Istanbul by
evening intercity bus, then by shuttle
van to Sultanahmet, arriving
at bedtime. This is the fastest and
least expensive way to go, and allows
you to visit Gallipoli from Istanbul
in one (long) day. More...
—Overnight
tours to Gallipoli and Troy: a
2-day tour that's less rushed,
and you get to see
Troy as
well. Transport is the same as
for the aforementioned Day
Excursion (above), but you
stay overnight near Gallipoli at
a comfortable, budget-priced hostel or
in a 3-star
hotel, as you choose.
By staying overnight you'll have
time to visit
Troy as
well. More...
—Private
tour: your
group is driven by professional
chauffeur from
Istanbul to Gallipoli in a comfortable
air-conditioned
Mercedes-Benz van,
with plenty of time to see whatever
you like, at your own pace. More...
—Anzac
Day Tours: here's
how to attend the dawn
commemoration ceremonies on
ANZAC Day (April 25th) without
the many hassles that are often
part of Gallipoli tours. More...
—6-Day
Self-Drive Tour
You can also visit the Gallipoli
battlefields from Istanbul on
an overnight
excursion by rental car, or
on a six-day
self-drive tour that includes Gallipoli, Troy and
Mount
Ida,
Bergama
(Pergamum), Ephesus and Kusadasi.
