A beautiful Ottoman-style
inn on a quiet street only two minutes'
stroll from Kalekapisi,
the very center of Antalya.
Is that possible?
It is at the Tuvana Hotel,
in a prime location close to all the
sights in Kaleiçi
(Old Antalya), but also just steps
from Kalekapisi,
the very center of Antalya sightseeing,
transportation and
shopping.
It's even on itas own quiet
side street with
very little pedestrian traffic, and
no vehicle traffic.
The six restored Ottoman houses
of the inn have 23 comfortable, atmospheric
standard rooms, eight suites, two family
suites and two "Pasha" rooms
that are larger, with many windows,
and views
of the garden, terrace
restaurant,
and pretty swimming pool
surrounded by palm and fruit
trees and luxuriant bougainvillea.
In season, feel
free to pick fresh oranges,
tangerines, bananas, plums, medlars,
and pomegranates right from the trees!
All rooms have flat-screen satellite
TV with
Turkish, European and American channels,
DVD players, direct-dial phones, minibars,
and modern private bathrooms with hair
dryers.
Enjoy a book from
the small lending library if
you don't intend to log on to the free
Wifi wireless Internet access available
everywhere in the hotel.
The hotel's adjoining restaurant, Seraser, is
the finest gourmet restaurant in Kaleiçi,
and probably in Antalya, yet is moderate
in price for what you get. More...
The Tuvana also serves some meals
in its beautiful garden, and has two hotel
dining rooms for
days when it's better to dine indoors.
One of them has a fireplace to
chase the chill on winter evenings.
Rates usually include a full
Turkish buffet breakfast as
well as a generous table
d'hote dinner,
which may be a special event such
as
a Turkish barbecue: a
seemingly endless succession of appetizers,
salads, and grilled meats brought right
to your table, sizzling from the grill,
until you can eat no more. But then,
dessert
arrives!
Oh,
and coffee. Oh, and then a liqueur....
(Delicious alternatives are available
for vegetarians.)
Don't be alarmed: your comfy
bed is
not far away....
Clientele is usually
a congenial mix of Britons, Europeans
and North Americans. Special
rates are available
for diplomats,
academics and journalists with
credentials. Mention
TTP when you reserve your
room and you may be upgraded from
a Standard to a Superior room if one
is available. There are also seasonal
discounts.
Ask!
Mr Aziz Tankut, the
hotel's owner, and Ms Nermin
Sümer, the General
Manager, are usually much in evidence
around the hotel, assisting guests,
sharing a story, a joke, a cup of coffee,
or
information
and advice on how best to enjoy Antalya
and places nearby.
The hotel staff will be happy to arrange
a private
transfer from Antalya
International Airport directly to the
Tuvana Hotel. More...
When you contact
the hotel to ask
about rates and room availability,
please be sure to mention
TTP. In addition to the normal
reasons, you'll receive real
bonuses for being a TTP user.
Your room will have fresh flowers,
an assortment of fruit (fresh
and dried) and nuts to
snack on, and a bottle
of quality wine. Aziz Bey
and Nermin Hanim tell me that TTP users
are the best guests, so
they want you to come.
The Tuvana Hotel has
its own car
parking lot behind the hotel
(a rare thing
in congested Kaleiçi).
Finding it can be tricky, but no worries:
the hotel will send a staff member
to assist, or even pilot your car if
necessary. Contact the hotel for details.
Remember to mention
TTP for special treatment!
