(Note: professional guides provide
their services for a fee. Although
they welcome inquiries about scheduling
and availability of their services,
they expect to be paid when they provide
tourism information. You may be asked
to arrange payment before questions
are answered. Also, if you reserve
a guide's time in advance, you may
be asked to arrange credit
card payment at the time of reservation, just as
for a hotel room, rental car, or flight.
Please note that guides are
not travel agents, and are not licensed to make
reservations or other travel agency
services.—Tom Brosnahan)
Hello! I'm Mehmet Tetik...
I have
been working in Istanbul and
travelling in Turkey quite a lot. In
my 11 years as a tour guide, I have
been to 75 provinces in Turkey and
have
seen most of the main
tourist sites as
well as those off the beaten track.
I specialise in Istanbul, especially
Byzantine sights,
(churches converted to mosques, palaces,
cisterns, city
walls and columns), religious
sites (churches, synagogues
and
Jewish
sites), and the islands in
the Sea
of Marmara.
I enjoy taking visitors
on specialized tours of religious
sites such as
Ephesus,
Alasehir (Philadelphia), Bergama (Pergamon),
Izmir (Smyrna), Miletus, Tarsus and
Antakya (Antioch).
I especially enjoy walking and trekking in
the Old
City and Galata districts
of Istanbul.
I have guided
Tauck tours from the United States,
as well as private guidance of
small groups, families, business
travelers, etc., including gay
men and women.
I have been guiding one Canadian gentleman
who has come to Turkey annually for
3 years. I have been his private guide
and driver for 60 days total so far,
and I will be guiding and driving him
for another 10 days next year in October.
I am a native of Istanbul, married,
with one child (a daughter).
Please email
me if
you are interested in having me show
you Istanbul and
Turkey. —Mehmet Tetik
