Re: Railway tickets discount for senior foreigners

It may be possible to have a travel agency buy the tickets for you, and email them to you. I suggest that you contact my friends at Efendi Travel in Istanbul to see if they can help: https://turkeytravelplanner.com/tourop/bakpak/efendi_travel.html Efendi Travel Agency Yeni Akbıyık Caddesi No: 30 (ma...

Re: Railway tickets discount for senior foreigners

I checked this TCDD website page (in Turkish): Postal mail and telephone contact information is shown on the website under "İletişim," but no email address. However, on this page: https://miys.tcdd.gov.tr/mis-1.0/pages/public/musteriTelReq.jsf ..they write that if you put your telephone number into ...

Re: Processing films in Bursa

I do not know a shop or lab for processing film in Bursa, but I did a Google search and I found these names: Gizay Fotoğrafçılık, tel +90 224 222 07 96; address: Osmangazi Mahallesi, D:47, 16220 Osmangazi/Bursa, Turkey Lacivert Bilişim Teknoloji Fotoğraf Malzemeleri - www.fotomalzemeleri.com, Camera...

Re: 2017 Turkey Planning and Weather

I can't say anything about wild camping because I have no information or evidence either way (good or bad). My advice would be to obtain the permission of the landowner on whose peoperty you camp (all land is "owned" by somebody), but of course it's impractical to determine who might own land away f...

Re: 14 days in Turkey

As a website designer myself, it's been interesting watching the progress. In the Old Days (before the late 1990s), the TCDD published paper-book schedules that were simple to use. Their first website was crude but useful. Then somebody convinced them to go database-crazy and it was virtually impene...

Re: 14 days in Turkey

You don't mention when you'll be going to Turkey. It may make a difference. In the meantime, here are some ideas: Our plan is - 3 days - Cappadocia (Stay Garden Cave Hostel or similar) (Fly to Izmir from Kayseri) You can take a bus from Cappadocia (Nevşehir) to Konya, see the Mevlana Museum and othe...

Re: Antalya tram being extended to airport and beyond

Amazing! They finally got it done.

I remember those taxi fares from the airport: surprisingly expensive.

Thanks, David! I've revised the Antalya Trams page and related pages:

Re: Upcoming Turkey trip

Just back from Turkey. Unless something changes, hotels have plenty of rooms, and you may be able to bargain for price when you get there, so I don't think you need hotel reservations, but you should at least do research on the places you'd like to stay. As for flights, low promotional airfares are ...

Re: Travel time from Ataturk airport to Sultanahmet

We arrive on Thursday 14th July at 6pm and need to be back at the airport by 6.45am the following day for an 8.45am flight to London. That apears to be 12 hours, not 20. If you arrive at the airport at 6pm, by the time you clear Immigration and Customs and get to the city center, all of the sights ...
