Are you actually going to get some time in Istanbul Mark?

As for hotels there, Davcamp is quite right and the prices quoted are way over the top. Airport hotels also tend to be a bit souless and expensive (same in many cities). I'd suggest train and tram to Istanbul (less than an hour) and stay in a hotel closer to the centre. You'll have more choice, better pricing and might even get to see a bit more of the city than you anticipated.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the advice.

I wanted to get a hotel near the airport as we will arrive late at night the first night after 2 flights (Mex City - LDN & LDN - IST) and the next morning we are travelling to Izmir.
I know that airport hotels tend to be expensive but we found a reasonably priced one that gives free airport transfers too and we will literally only be sleeping there then checking out early the next morning.

We are booked into a hotel in Selcuk for one night the following night then return to Istanbul.

There we will be part of a 3 day tour only in the city so hopefully we can see quite a few things.
Bear in mind that we don´t have a lot of time so will in all probability return to Turkey in the future if we want to to see more.

After Turkey we go to Jordan for a week.

I realise that we will be rushing a little bit but I am trying to do as much as we can with the available time we have.

This is probably not the right post but is there any one thing that we absolutely MUST see or absolutely should bypass?

Thanks again
Mark
