Bus from Antalya to Goreme - Nov 09

Postby michael.avery2 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 5:31 am

Hi, my wife and I would like to catch an overnight bus from Antalya to Goreme on Friday 6 Nov 09. Given that this is out of high season, does anyone know if o'night buses still run every night or are they less frequent?? We are on a tight timeline so if we need to wait a couple of days for the next bus it may be problematic..... Should I pre-book with a travel agent or just book it the day before (we arrive in Antalya on Thu 5 Nov)???

As I looked on the Metro Turizm website there are 3 buses daily ..2 leaving at night 730pm and 9pm..however a couple of things I noticed..one I could not access any bus time for Nov. 06th for Antalya to Goreme...then I tried Antalya to Nevsehir and as well could not get any dates past oct 31st....it could be one of two..it is too early to try and book tickets for November..or they reduce the amount of buses and services in the low season of the year...but I am 100 % sure there are still regular nightly buses.

with Metro Turizm.

7295 ANT-KAYSERI(MERKEZ) 09:00 18:00 TRAVEGO 42,00 YTL this is a DAY bus

1005 ANT-SIVAS(MERKEZ) 19:30 04:00 SETRA 42,00 YTL YTL these are NIGHT buses

7298 ANT-KAYSERI(MERKEZ) 21:00 06:00 TRAVEGO 46 42,00 YTL

Antalya to Nevsehir

The next major bus station to Goreme is in the city of Nevsehir (10km).

Buses to and from all major towns and cities in Turkey (and beyond) stop in Goreme daily. Some of the bus companies serving Goreme are: Suha, Metro, Goreme, and Nevsehir.

* Do we need to buy tickets ahead of time?

1-2 days in advance..either directly at the bus station or from any Metro Turizm office located in Antalya..I would not leave getting my tickets til the last minute..then you cannot be garanteed the bus of choice..or when you arrive in Turkey ( possibly Istanbul ) you can go into any Metro Turizm office and buy your tickets there in advance...or call Phone: 00 90 21 444 34 55

* How far in advance of the departure time should we aim to be at Antalya bus station?

If you have already purchased your tickets 1-2 days in advance then 30 minutes is enough time to arrive at the bus station..if not go there at least 1-2 hours before

you can also try ; Nevşehirliler Seyahat 20:30 ANTALYA -> NEVŞEHİR -> KAYSERİ MOLALI 403 40,00 TL

These overnight buses were unbelievably busy last month and not just with tourists, we could not fathom where all the people were coming from or going to. The Metro buses were full on our outward journey but we managed to get the Goreme bus company later that evening (I had phoned from the UK and reserved 2 seats until 7pm). We were impressed with the service, hot drinks and muffin and snack the next morning plus onward shuttle to Urgup from Nevsehir included in the price of the ticket. As we were worried about the return journey being full we booked the Metro bus at Antalya but wished we had not bothered. We were given a time for catching the shuttle to Nevsehir from Urgup and I rechecked this before we left the otogar, it was rechecked on the PC and written down on the front of the ticket as 10pm. We arrived just about 9.15 to find that it had already gone  . Our hotelier (Urgup Cave Inn) who had given us a lift then phoned the bus company and was told they would not honour the tickets for the following morning, we would have to pay again so he had a big argument and demanded that they hold the bus, bundled us in the car and sped down to Nevsehir where we caught it with 2 minutes to spare, we were very grateful for his kind gesture. I would never trust a timing again unless I had seen it for myself. Both companies buses had reclining seats but I'm afraid I just could not sleep, though other passengers didn't seem to have a problem, I'm not sure I could do it again. There were no spare seats on either bus. My one criticism is the lack of information available, there were actually three bus companies on that route that night.
