I have 4 days in Istanbul in mid March (third trip), then 11 days to explore the Southeast before flying out to Berlin. I already have the r/t ticket, but will buy the ticket from Turkey to Berlin soon. Hence, I need to make up my mind what city to fly out of! My plan now:
1. Diyarbakir
2. Rent car. Hasankeyf. Night in Midyat?
3. Tür Abdin. Hah, Anitli. Night in Savur or Mardin.
4. Mardin.
5. Return car. Bus to Sanliurfa
6. Sanliurfa
7. daytrip to Halfeti / Rumkale?
8. Adiyaman for Nemrut Dagi
9. Gaziantep
10. daytrip to Yesemek.
11. to Antakya
12. daytrip to Samandag
13. 4am flight from Hatay to Berlin
That hits all the highlights for me, at a moderately fast pace.
But it's one day too long. How do i cut this? My thoughts are:
1. Drop Nemrut. It sounds like it might be too cold in March to enjoy.
2. Drop Antakya. This would give an extra day, either for Tür Abdin or a layover in Ankara. Problem is, I like the idea of
finishing this journey by the shores of the Mediterranean. It feels complete, almost.
3. Drop a day in Urfa or Antep. Problem here is, the trip would start to feel rushed.
