I am reading about Gobekli Tepe and it blows my mind.
Is the site open for visitors?
How can I find a good local guide?
(I have seen other references to Gobekli Tepe on the forum, but they are a couple of years old and do not address these questions specifically).

Yes, it is open. You'll probably need to take a taxi out of Urfa to visit it. It's not far - about 15km.

I shall have my rented car so I hope to be able to get there. It seems like one of the few places where I do need a guide, possibly a minor member of the archeological teem. Do you have any idea if and how is anybody like that available?

I think if no archaeologists are there, there's a caretaker/guard who can show you around.
