Can someone identify this fruit?

Postby bodanzarama » Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:31 pm

I was recently in the village of Mustafapasa and a local man had a wagon full of these small, grap-shaped fruits. Inside it's powdery and sweet. I then saw them in a farmer's market. Can anyone help? Thanks very much!

I think it is the fruit of eleagnus angustifloria or Russian Olive. We buy them to grow as seed but I did eat one once and it was exactly as you have described.
