Auto racing is a
fairly new sport in Turkey, but motorsport
got a big boost with
the designation of Istanbul as
the site of the WRC Formula
1 Grand Prix that
took place on
August 21,
2005.
Istanbul now
hosts a Formula 1 Grand
Prix race every year. In 2008, the
races will be 9-10-11 May.
Istanbul
Park, one
of the world's newest and most
modern
racetracks,
was rushed to completion for the event
