My friends at Anker
Travel have
established a system for reserving
airport taxis in Turkey.
At most Turkish
airports there is
little problem finding a taxi when
you arrive, but sometimes the number
of cars is insufficient and
a few passengers are left waiting after
a long flight.
The ones usually left waiting are
the foreign visitors who proceed more
slowly
because they are unfamiliar with
the airport layout, or are otherwise
delayed from reaching the taxi rank.
Some passengers arrive late
at night or early in the morning,
and want to make sure there is a
reserved taxi waiting for
them.
Occasionally, visitors find their
taxi taking the long, more
expensive route to their destination,
or having the driver tell them that
their chosen
hotel is "fully booked," (when
it's not) and suggest another hotel
(from which the
driver
receives a commission).
The airport taxi reservation
service costs more than
a normal unreserved taxi,
but it's also easier, more
comfortable and secure than
just arriving and looking for
a ride.
As you emerge from the airport's
secure area, your driver
will be waiting for you with your
name on a
sign, will
assist you with your luggage, will
lead you right to the car and will
depart at
once. You'll go right to your destination
by the shortest route.
More than a standard taxi, but less
than a private-transfer limo,
with many of the comforts and conveniences
of limo service:
that's a reserved
airport taxi.
