Fast ferries speed between Istanbul's Yenikapi Feribot Terminali and Bandirma on the south shore of the Sea of Marmara, connecting Istanbul with towns in the southern Marmara and northern Aegean region (map). You can take buses from Bandirma to anywhere in Aegean Turkey, and a fast train to Izmir.

The large, fast Istanbul-Bandirma catamaran car ferries (hizli feribot) carry both cars and passengers. The voyage takes about two hours. Voyages marked by an asterisk (*) are via Deniz Otobüsü, a fast catamaran passenger ferry that does not carry cars.

Special schedules are in force during the major holidays of Ramazan Bayrami (11-15 October) and Kurban Bayrami (19-24 December).

Istanbul - Bandirma ferries are operated by IDO (Istanbul Deniz Otobüsleri A S) whose website has an English-language section. You may not need reservations for passenger travel, but you should probably reserve space if you plan to transport a car. IDO says you can call this number at any time to make a reservation and to purchase a ticket with a credit card: +90 (212) 444 4 436.

Kennedy Caddesi, Yenikapi Feribot Iskelesi
Eminönü, Istanbul, Turkey
Tel +90 212 517 9696
Fax +90 212 517 3800

These lines are supposedly answered 24 hours a day. You can probably send a fax in English or German and get a response in the same language.

BANDIRMA-IZMIR EXPRESS TRAIN
