Fast car ferries speed between Istanbul's Yenikapi Feribot Terminali and Yalova on the south shore of the Sea of Marmara five times daily from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm, making the voyage in 70 minutes, connecting Istanbul with towns in the Aegean region (map), especially Bursa.

From Yalova you can take a bus (every 20 minutes, YTL7, 55 km/34 mi, less than an hour) to Bursa's main bus terminal. From the bus terminal you can take a city bus to the city center (30 to 45 minutes). More...

(Note that the Istanbul (Yenikapi)—Bursa (Güzelyali) fast ferry gets you to Bursa faster because the land distance is shorter, and you ride the Bursaray—Bursa's metro—to the city center, avoiding gridlocked traffic. More...)

These ferries are operated by IDO (Istanbul Deniz Otobüsleri A S) whose website has an English-language section. You may not need reservations for passenger travel, but you should probably reserve space if you plan to transport a car. IDO says you can call this number at any time to make a reservation and to purchase a ticket with a credit card: +90 212 444 4 436.
