The Onyedi
Eylül Ekspresi (September
17th Express) between Bandirma and Izmir is
coordinated with the IDO fast
ferry between Bandirma and Istanbul from
April through October,
but not necessarily during the
winter months. The trains
run, but the ferry connections
may not be convenient.
For
the most reliable connection year-round,
travel on the 6
Eylül
Ekspresi.
The 17
Eylül Ekspresi leaves
Izmir and Bandirma in the afternoon
and arrives in the opposite city
in the evening.
The
pleasant 342-km
(212-mile) train journey through
the scenic Aegean countryside takes
5-1/4 hours, the ferry
voyage across
the Sea
of Marmara two hours. With the
train-ferry transfer at Bandirma,
total journey time is less
than eight
hours.
Here is the schedule:
The train hauls Pullman coaches and
a dining car.
The 6
Eylül Ekspresi is
the better train between Istanbul and
Izmir. More...
