The overnight Dokuz Eylül Ekspresi (September 9th Express) has been withdrawn from service, and is no longer running.

Look at the Izmir Mavi Tren and Karesi Ekspresi instead.

Although most trains to/from Izmir normally operate from Basmane station, some may depart and arrive at Izmir's Alsancak station, 2km (1.24 miles) north instead (map).

It's best to reserve your seat or bed in advance, particularly if you want a sleeping compartment. Please also read this safety notice about sleeping car travel.
