Trains
on the Istanbul-Ankara route are
the best in Turkey. They're fast,
comfortable and cheap.
The
trip between Istanbul (Haydarpasa
Station) and Ankara (Ankara
Station) takes 5 to 9+ hours depending
on the train, and costs US$7 to US$17
per person, one-way.
The
faster the train, the higher the
fare.
(Note
that each "train" is actually
two: one leaves Istanbul and
the other leaves Ankara at
or near the same time, heading to
the other city.)
Fares
in the chart below are one-way, per
person, in a full-fare seat. Discounts are
available.
(Fares
for the Ankara
Ekspresi, an all-sleeping-car
train, are for one person in
a private sleeping compartment (the
higher fare), and per-person for
two people in a compartment (the
lower fare)).
