The Anadolu Ekspresi (Anatolia Express), departs Istanbul and Ankara at 22:00 (10 pm) hauling Pullman seat cars, a couchette car, and a dining car.

It arrives in the opposite city 9-1/4 hours later at 07:15 am. A one-way ticket in a Pullman seat costs YTL21.50, slightly more in a couchette compartment.

If you'd rather have the full comfort of a private sleeping comparment with a proper bed, the Ankara Ekspresi, an all-sleeping-car train, departs a half-hour after the Anadolu Ekspresi.

Click here for info on how and where to buy tickets in advance.

Both the Ankara and Istanbul (Haydarpasa) stations have decent restaurants in which you can have a good, moderately-priced dinner before boarding the train.

Please read this safety notice about sleeping car travel.
