Turkish State Railways has several trains connecting Turkey
with Iran, the main one being the Trans
Asya Ekspresi.
It takes several days to travel from
Istanbul to Tabriz or Teheran via train,
and includes crossing huge Lake Van
on a ferryboat.
It would hardly seem
worth the trouble, especially as cheap
flights and buses are faster and not
much more expensive.
Unfortunately, the Turkish
State Railways website
is inconsistent in listing schedules
for international trains. In one place
they give one schedule, in another place
they give another. I can't be sure which
is the correct schedule.
