The Karesi
Ekspresi(KAH-reh-see) night
train between Izmir
(Alsancak Station) and Ankara is
slower than the Izmir
Mavi Tren.
Although this train—and most trains
to/from Izmir—normally operates from Basmane station,
the Karesi Ekspresi arrives at
Izmir's Alsancak station,
2km (1.24 miles) north instead (map).
It
does not have sleeping cars.
The westbound train
departs Ankara at
17:50 (5:50 pm) and arrives in Izmir
at 08:17 am after a 15-hour
journey.
The eastbound night
train departs Izmir
at 17:50 (5:50
pm) and arrives the next morning in
Ankara at
08:35 am after a 15+-hour journey.
The Karesi Ekspresi hauls
one unreserved Pullman
car, three reserved-seat Pullman
cars,
a "covered
couchette" car,
and a dining car.
A one-way/single ticket costs
TL25.
If you'd like a covered couchette,
add TL10
per person.

Mavi Tren.
